I know that spring is the best season to plant outdoor crops, but is there a best month or day?
Generally one must wait until the threat of frost has passed. Once the days start getting longer, keep an eye on the weather channel. If you put plants out too early, they will freeze. Get a copy of the old farmers almanac for more info in your area. In northern California it is generally around late April.
The websites you listed are cool but use a proxy server if you want to be extra careful. Don't order seeds to the place you're gonna grow them.
